"VENUS-SET"

In long exposures with tripod, the movement of the stars is shown by lines in the picture. In this image you can see the decline of Venus behind the neighbouring island Tenerife (80 kms. far away). A change in the color when the planet approaches the horizon can be appreciated, as a result of the thicker Earth's atmosphere around the horizon. At the back of the picture the Teide Peak, the lights of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and of the villages on the western side of the island. At the front, the figure of the Roque Nublo and the village Artenara in Gran Canaria Island. The view of the Teide Peak and Tenerife Island is a result of the long exposure (1 hour) of the photograph, as their image could not be seen at night.
